Summary

Gauntlet Dark Legacy continues where Gauntlet Legends left off and is the latest entry in the enduring Gauntlet series of hack-and-slash action games. Like all Gauntlet titles, you take on the role of a medieval fantasy hero, teaming up with allies if available, as you battle through waves of malevolent creatures in a continuous pursuit of gold and the ultimate objective. This edition includes all the characters and levels from Gauntlet Legends, as well as the new characters and stages from the Dark Legacy arcade version, with a few additional levels added for good measure. You can initially choose from eight distinct characters: the powerful Warrior, the lethal Valkyrie, the nimble Archer, the formidable Wizard, the mystical Sorceress, the steadfast Knight, the courageous Dwarf, and the unpredictable Jester. While some characters share traits from their respective games, each has a unique appearance and playstyle. Additionally, there are eight alternate forms for these characters to unlock, along with dozens of hidden characters to discover. Using a multi-tap, up to four players can join in, with specific rules determining how they can interact with each other. Unlike the earlier Gauntlet games, the levels now feature a variety of environments, ranging from dense forests and towering mountains to fiery volcanic plains. Many of the monsters will be familiar to longtime series fans, but there are also new threats lurking in the shadows, including some particularly massive adversaries.
