Summary

A third-person tactical shooter developed by Epic, powered by the Unreal Engine 3, *Gears of War* plunges players into a gripping and intense narrative of humanity's desperate struggle for survival against the Locust Horde, a terrifying species that emerges from beneath the planet. Unlike traditional shooters, *Gears of War* emphasizes teamwork above all else. Every game mode, level, and scenario is crafted to promote cooperative play—whether with AI allies or real human teammates (with AI characters featuring distinct abilities, flaws, and personalities). Voice recognition will also be supported, along with voice chat to strategize with friends. In addition to voice communication, players can enjoy personalized matchmaking, track their stats, unlock achievements, customize their gameplay, and build and tailor their gamer profiles through Xbox Live.
