God of War II
Summary
God of War II Remastered is an action-packed hack-and-slash adventure game, developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE). Set in ancient Greece and inspired by Greek mythology, the game centers on the theme of revenge. Kratos, now the new God of War after slaying Ares, is betrayed by Zeus, the ruler of the Olympian gods, who not only removes his divine status but also takes his life. As Kratos is dragged into the Underworld, he is saved by the Titan Gaia, who leads him to the Sisters of Fate. These powerful beings can grant Kratos the ability to travel through time, giving him a second chance to avert his betrayal and exact vengeance on Zeus. The remastered version delivers full HD visuals with 2X anti-aliased graphics, running smoothly at 60 frames per second.
Storyline
God of War II is set just after the events of God of War: Ghost of Sparta, yet more than thirteen years following the original God of War. Kratos, having vanquished Ares, has been crowned the new God of War, but remains shunned by the other deities due to his brutal actions against the Greek city-states. Still tormented by the memories of his past under Ares' command, Kratos finds solace only in leading and supporting his Spartan forces as they conquer Greece. Athena urges him to stop, warning that she can no longer shield him from Olympus' fury and that he should not abandon her, for it was she who elevated him to godhood. Kratos dismisses her, claiming he owes her nothing, and heads into the battle of Rhodes to aid his Spartan army.
