Summary
Godzilla is a video game created by Natsume Atari and released by Bandai Namco Games for the PlayStation 3 and 4. It hit the Japanese market on December 18, 2014, followed by a North American launch on July 14, 2015, and a European release on July 17, 2015. The PlayStation 4 version of Godzilla in Japan is titled Godzilla VS and was made available on July 16, 2015. Godzilla VS is identical in content to the PlayStation 4 Godzilla title. Godzilla, the Monarch of Monsters, first emerged in 1954. Researchers who studied Godzilla discovered that it emitted a powerful energy source known as "G-Energy." This seemingly limitless power was harnessed to improve the quality of life for humanity. Sixty years later, when memories of the creature had nearly faded, Godzilla returned. He unleashed destruction wherever he went, driven by a need for more G-Energy. How ironic that the very energy once used to uplift mankind also triggered Godzilla’s awakening. Can the G-Force, the last line of defense for humanity, halt Godzilla’s advance? What will become of Godzilla once he has consumed all available G-Energy and reached his ultimate size? Crush through more than 20 levels of chaos. Dive into Mission Mode, Diorama Mode, and King of Monsters Mode! Gather G-Energy in each level to upgrade your Godzilla to a towering 100 meters! As you grow larger, your strength and resilience will increase dramatically.
Storyline
In 1954, Godzilla launched a devastating assault on Japan. In the aftermath of his attack, humanity discovered and began utilizing G-Energy, a power source derived from Godzilla. Sixty years later, Godzilla reemerges, seeking to consume the G-Energy that now fuels the world. He moves across Japan, fending off Kaiju drawn to him and dismantling G-Generators. As mankind studies Godzilla, it is revealed that since his initial attack, G-Force has been secretly building a Godzilla-like machine. Once all data is gathered, the machine is activated. Depending on the player's difficulty, it can be either Super Mechagodzilla or Kiryu. Godzilla defeats the machine and obliterates the final two generators. He then seems to retreat toward the ocean. However, the energy he absorbs triggers a critical reaction, transforming him into Burning Godzilla. It is feared he may detonate, annihilating the planet. The G-Force Operator proposes freezing him, and cryo-tanks are deployed. The Super X3 arrives but is heavily damaged. Shortly after, another Godzilla-like entity appears but is also defeated. The Gotengo and Super X3 manage to encase Godzilla in ice, and Kiryu carries him out to sea. Both sink beneath the waves, and humanity begins the long road to recovery.
