Godzilla: The Series is a shooter game created by Crawfish Interactive and released by Crave for the Game Boy Color, inspired by the Godzilla franchise. It serves as a prequel to Godzilla The Series: Monster Wars.
After a massive electricity-powered beast known as The Crackler started attacking New York City, Godzilla stepped in to confront it while Randy Hernandez searched for a way to stop the threat. Godzilla pushed back against The Crackler and ultimately defeated it after its unknowing creator finally confronted his feelings, weakening the creature. Later, Niko Tatopoulos contacted Major Anthony Hicks, urging him to halt the attacks on Godzilla, who had just saved the city. However, Hicks claimed no such orders had been given. He was pursued by a helicopter, forcing him to retreat into the water and eventually reach an island. On the island, Godzilla was ambushed by more military forces and a swarm of Giant Mutant Bees, eventually clashing with their Queen. After the Bees were defeated, H.E.A.T. discovered that military units were still targeting Godzilla and chose to keep fighting them to uncover the source. As Godzilla pressed on, he encountered more military forces and Cyber Flies before facing a massive tank. Meanwhile, H.E.A.T. examined tar found on a beach, suspecting it was connected to the disappearance of several swimmers. They were then attacked by a Mutant Giant Squid, which Godzilla defeated before more arrived alongside the military. Eventually, they found squids that were not burned by Godzilla’s Fire Balls, but instead encased in the same digestive tar they had discovered earlier. Before they could fully understand the source of the tar, the Crustaceous Rex emerged and attacked Godzilla. Though it managed to trap Godzilla in tar, he was able to overcome it. When H.E.A.T. noticed Godzilla acting unusually energetic, they were contacted by Cameron Winter, who first accused them of trespassing before confessing he had orchestrated the military attacks on Godzilla to test his Solstice Technologies weapons and was using a device to control Godzilla. N.I.G.E.L. managed to disable the machine, and Godzilla continued forward, defeating upgraded versions of the Solstice Helicopter and Solstice Tank. Finally, Godzilla reached the Solstice Industries facility on the island and destroyed it. With the mystery of who had been attacking Godzilla resolved, H.E.A.T. and Godzilla returned to New York City.
