Summary
Granblue Fantasy is a Japanese role-playing video game that follows the conventions of traditional Japanese RPGs, featuring turn-based combat. The game includes summons and a class system that modifies the main character's abilities and progression. Characters level up and learn new skills by earning experience points, while equipped summons and weapons provide boosts to attack power and HP. Players acquire characters through quests—either the main story or special event missions—or by spending in-game currency on random crystal fragments, which can include special weapons that unlock specific characters for the party. Characters, summons, and weapons are categorized by rarity, from highest to lowest as SSR, SR, R, and N, and are also assigned one of six elements: wind, water, fire, earth, light, or darkness. Voice actors lend their voices to all characters during battles and much of the main and event storylines.
Storyline
In a world where islands of every shape and size drift upon an endless sea of clouds lies a land abandoned by the gods. Long ago, the Astrals, powerful beings, sought to dominate this realm with their might. But the Skydwellers, the people of the skies, stood firm and repelled them, restoring peace to the heavens. Now, our hero is about to begin his journey after receiving a letter from his long-lost father. Joining him is Vyrn, an unusual relative who just so happens to be a winged lizard. Despite Vyrn's protests, the hero is about to depart from his hometown of Zinkenstill when the mysterious island is suddenly consumed by fire. The rising Erste Empire descends from above, sending its fleet into the skies to cause destruction. In the midst of the turmoil, a fateful meeting with a mysterious girl named Lyria triggers the awakening of the fallen star dragon, who lets out a mighty roar of rebirth.
