Summary

"Grind Stormer" is a 1993 vertical scrolling shooter arcade game originally created and released by Toaplan in Japan and North America. It is widely seen as the spiritual follow-up to *Slap Fight*. Centered on the idea of a game within a game, players take on the role of a young government agent piloting the NA-00 space fighter to battle the eponymous virtual reality simulator, save the players captured by it, and uncover its hidden agenda.

Storyline

Set in the year 2210, the game follows the release of the legendary VR arcade machine, Grind Stormer/V・V. As this immersive shooting game takes the world by storm, its addictive nature prompts the government to send a young investigator to uncover its real intentions. His mission: to delve into the phenomenon and accomplish the near-impossible—defeating the game itself.
