Summary

Guacamelee! is an action-platformer with a Metroid-vania structure, set in a vibrant, magical world inspired by Mexican culture. Guacamelee! enhances the classic Metroid-vania open-world formula by introducing intense melee combat, a dimension-switching system, and co-op same-screen multiplayer for the full campaign. The game cleverly intertwines combat and platforming, with many moves serving dual purposes in both gameplay elements. Embark on a journey through a mystical Mexican landscape as a Luchador, using your fists to fight off evil forces. Discover powerful wrestling moves like the Rooster Uppercut and Dimension Swap to unlock new regions and uncover secrets. Guacamelee! Gold Edition is a version of the PlayStation 3 and Vita game that includes all previously released DLC. A more advanced version titled "Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition" was later released, featuring an extended story, two additional areas, and a brand-new boss.

Storyline

Carlos Calaca has taken El Presidente's Daughter hostage, intending to offer her as a sacrifice to unite the World of the Living with the World of the Dead. Juan Aguacate, a humble agave farmer who discovers a Legendary Luchador mask, must find the inner strength and bravery to become the Hero he's always longed to be and stop this from happening. Not for you, not for Calaca, but for El Presidente's Daughter, the most beautiful girl in all the world.
