Summary
Half-Life: Before is a modification for Half-Life featuring new levels and an original story. The mod utilizes the technology of Spirit of Half-Life 1.8, enhancing both the visual and functional aspects. You take on the role of Black Mesa scientist Andrew Winner.
Storyline
The story is set in Russia at a secret facility known as "Object E7" or "Black Star," occurring simultaneously with the unforeseen events at Black Mesa. G-Man had originally planned to orchestrate three portal-opening incidents. The first took place at the Black Mesa Complex. The second was intended for the Black Star facility. The location of the third remains a mystery. However, due to a malfunction in the cascade resonator at Black Star, the planned incident there never occurred. Object E7 is a research complex dedicated to the study of anomalous materials and organisms. Its academic advisor is Dr. Victor Shmurghe, who is directly linked to G-Man. The main character is a political prisoner transferred from prison to Object E7. His primary role was to test a prototype of the new H.E.V.5000 protective suit. Yet, he managed to escape during a routine test by sheer luck.
