Summary
The Maptacular Pack is the third downloadable content set for Halo 2. It introduced five new maps to the game: Backwash, Elongation, Gemini, Relic, and Terminal. It was originally scheduled to launch with the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack on June 28, 2005, but was ultimately made available for download on July 5, 2005, at a price of $11.99. On August 30, 2005, it was permanently offered free of charge. After becoming free, the download was necessary to participate in Halo 2 Matchmaking on Xbox Live. The Maptacular maps were later included in the Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack, the Halo 2 PC version, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Initially planned as the final DLC for Halo 2, a fourth expansion called the Blastacular Pack was eventually released in early 2007.
