Summary
The game is divided into four 30-day seasons that make up a full year, with each in-game day lasting around fifteen minutes. Unlike its predecessor, *Harvest Moon DS: Island of Happiness*, players are no longer restricted to touch-screen controls. Conversations with other characters can be initiated by either tapping the character or pressing the A button while facing them. Holding the B button while moving allows the player's character to run. While the new button-based controls are available, the original touch-screen system remains fully functional.
Storyline
Welcome to the Sunshine Islands, a vibrant chain of islands teeming with life. Some believe the islands have lost a bit of their former glory, however. Long ago, a terrible catastrophe changed everything. Could there still be a way to bring them back? Perhaps you’ll be the one to discover the answer, Player! The islands are in trouble! A devastating earthquake struck the Sunshine Islands many years ago. In *Harvest Moon: Sunshine Islands*, it’s up to you to restore the submerged islands by uncovering the mystical Sun Stones.
