Summary
Heated Barrel is a Western-style side-scrolling shooter that allows up to four players to join in the action. The game features four classic Western characters to choose from: Howdy Pardner, who wields a shotgun, Mexican fighter Chi Chi Gringo who hurls boomerangs, Little Plum the Native American who throws axes, and Billy Six Guns, a revolver-toting sharpshooter. As you advance through the game, you'll battle cowboys, Native Americans, and ghostly foes. While firing in all directions, you'll traverse through towns, deserts, and rivers, taking down anything that dares to stand in your way. Throughout your journey, you can collect various power-ups, including items that boost your firepower, a double star that equips your character with a second weapon for simultaneous firing, extra lives, and a special barrel that you can detonate to destroy nearby enemies and grant temporary invincibility—ideal for escaping tight situations. Some stages feature large mid-bosses, while every level concludes with a unique boss encounter.
