Shōwa Year 58, early summer. It’s June, and the sweltering heat has arrived sooner than usual. Crickets chirp during the day, and cicadas sing at night. We’re in Hinamizawa, a quiet village nestled in the countryside. With a population of under two thousand, it seems peaceful at first glance. But every year, something happens. Something strange. Every year, around the same time in June, a death occurs, and someone vanishes. These tragedies are tied to the turmoil surrounding the dam construction. A long-buried murder is being played out once more. Is it a plot? A mere coincidence? Or something far darker—perhaps a curse? Someone who should be here is gone. Someone who should not be here is present. Someone who was alive just yesterday is now dead. And someone who stands before you now is already lost. There is no way to escape this fate. No choice but to surrender. But don’t surrender. Only you can face what lies ahead.
