Ikaruga
Summary
In this vertical-scrolling spaceship shooter, you command a vessel capable of switching its polarity at any time. When set to blue or white, your ship can effortlessly eliminate red or black enemies, and the reverse is also true. Bullets that match your current polarity can be absorbed to charge your missile meter, while those of the opposite color will destroy you. When enemy ships are destroyed, they drop points that you can collect—but these points are also polarized. Various difficulty settings alter how you interact with these polarized points or how they behave. Ikaruga is an incredibly challenging shmup, offering a steep learning curve even on the easiest setting, and plenty of replayability for players ready to take on the challenge.
