Ishar 2 was released in 1993 for the Amiga Atari ST and DOS platforms. In this sequel the player takes control of Zubaran who has recently become the ruler of Ishar. Zubaran is given a vision instructing him to confront the sorcerer Shandar. Players also have the option to bring over a group of characters from the original Ishar game. The game is set across an archipelago with each island named after one of Jarel's allies. Each island offers a unique environment: Irvan's island is a swampy area Akeer's and Otbar's islands are subterranean structures Zach's island is home to a bustling city Jon's is rugged and mountainous and Thorm's island features elevated walkways among the trees. The game introduces a more user-friendly combat system compared to the first Ishar and includes a day-night cycle where shops are only open during the day and a nightclub is only accessible at night. A new bank has also been added though its use is left to the players' discretion. Additionally saving the game no longer causes the player to lose any gold.
