Storyline
A lawyer achieves the impossible, only for the victory to cost him everything. Now, as a wave of murders darkens the city and the legal system begins to crumble, justice can no longer afford to be impartial. Takayuki Yagami, the son of a slain attorney, was raised in the gritty streets of Kamurocho by a yakuza leader who guides him toward the path of his biological father. Taking a position at Genda Law Office, Yagami takes on a high-stakes case: defending Shinpei Okubo, a man accused of murder. Defying all expectations, Yagami wins and is celebrated as a hero, but his meteoric rise is brief. Just months later, Okubo viciously kills his girlfriend, stabbing her more than ten times with a kitchen knife before igniting their apartment in flames. Yagami is now the lawyer who allowed a killer to go free—and all he has built is reduced to ruins. Three years on, Yagami has abandoned his legal credentials to run a modest detective agency in Kamurocho's red-light district, surviving on small jobs and gathering evidence. But even a city as corrupt as this is rattled by a series of brutal murders, with victims found with their eyes brutally removed. Yagami is pulled back into the legal world by his former firm, where he learns that to uncover this killer, he must confront the truth he failed to grasp three years ago. But can a man burdened by his past triumph over his own demons?
