Kagami no Kuni no Legend is a first-person adventure game with a Japanese aesthetic. Players interact with the game world by choosing action commands from a menu and applying them to objects or characters. Commands like "Examine" or "Talk" are available on most screens, and if an object can be picked up, the relevant command appears after the player has fully explored the area. An inventory system allows the player to carry items that are needed at specific times, though the game does not feature traditional puzzles. Movement is handled through the "Move" command, and in certain areas, the player controls the character's direction using buttons in a pseudo-3D setting. Making incorrect decisions can occasionally result in a Game Over. The majority of the background and character visuals are presented in an anime style, except for Noriko, who appears in digital photographs, occasionally performing songs.
The main character was watching a TV performance by Japanese singer Noriko Sakai (NORI-P) when, out of nowhere, she was swept up in a sudden whirlwind and vanished. Determined, the hero pursued her into a mystical parallel world, only to land in a dense forest with no sign of her. Now, he must track down NORI-P and confront a sinister sorcerer along the way.
