Summary

A peculiar case arrives at Scotland Yard. Client Gilles Willcock gets a warning of an impending murder set for midnight. He summons a detective, and seven individuals at the manor anxiously await the unfolding events. Gilles confines the guest to the second floor while the detective remains concealed on the first. At the stroke of midnight, gunshots echo from above, and a murder is glimpsed through a keyhole. When the detective locates the key and enters the room, there is no corpse to be found.
