Prior to the SNES version, Nichibitsu had actually acquired the rights to the Heiankyo Alien game to develop its Kid no Hore Hore Daisakusen series. While it includes a hole-digging and enemy-trapping feature, it's not really a trap-'em-up like Heiankyo Alien. The main objective in each level is to gather all the items needed to progress through a door. By using tools like flamethrowers and bombs, players could complete the entire game without trapping a single enemy. The series continued with several follow-ups, such as Booby Kids on the Famicom and Doraemon Meikyū Daisakusen for the PC Engine. The latter was localized and released on the TurboGrafx-16 as Cratermaze, with the Doraemon character omitted.
