Kingdom Hearts Coded is the fourth installment in the Kingdom Hearts series, set just before the conclusion of Kingdom Hearts II and closely linked to Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep. It is an episodic puzzle video game that was released between 2008 and 2010 in eight parts on the Docomo Prime Series-P-01A Panasonic mobile phone.
The game is set before the conclusion of Kingdom Hearts II and centers on Jiminy Cricket, King Mickey, Donald Duck, and Goofy within Disney Castle. As Jiminy sorts through the entries in his journal from his journeys with Sora and his companions, his curiosity is piqued by the phrase "Thank Naminé," leading him to discover an unfamiliar message: "We must return to free them from their torment." Determined to uncover the truth behind it, King Mickey digitizes the journal's contents and enters the simulated world to investigate. There, he awakens a virtual Data-Sora on the digital version of Destiny Islands to follow the journal's instructions and reveal the identity of "them."
