Summary

Kingdom Hearts III: Re Mind is a downloadable content pack for Kingdom Hearts III, launched in 2020. Taking place during and following the game’s conclusion, it introduces new story segments—“Re Mind,” “Limitcut Episode,” and “Secret Episode”—tough boss encounters, and expanded narrative links. Two versions were offered, with the premium edition featuring a recording of the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra -World of Tres- live performance. A complimentary update released with the DLC also introduced the Oathkeeper and Oblivion Keyblades.

Storyline

The main story focuses on Sora's mission to save Kairi. Taking on a non-corporeal form, Sora journeys back in time to the clash between the guardians of light and the Organization, navigating through the hearts of the guardians to reach Kairi. After traversing the hearts of Ventus, Aqua, Terra, and Roxas, Sora enters the heart of his past self in an attempt to change Kairi's destiny, but is unsuccessful. However, Mickey informs Sora that Xehanort has concealed the crystal pieces of Kairi's heart as a final safeguard. Sora locates five of these fragments in Scala ad Caelum before his former self's ultimate confrontation with Xehanort, and later tracks the remaining two through Riku and Mickey's hearts during the guardians' fight against Xehanort's copies, ultimately restoring Kairi. After overcoming Xehanort's combined replicas, Sora and Kairi travel to the Final World to meet Chirithy, whom Sora convinces to return to the light. Sora and Kairi then visit the worlds of their friends—reuniting Chirithy with its owner, Ventus, and healing Naminé's heart—before returning to the Destiny Islands, where Sora disappears. The "Limitcut Episode" takes place one year after Sora's vanishing; his friends have continued searching for him, while Kairi has been placed in stasis after offering herself as a test subject for Ansem the Wise in an effort to aid Sora. During a trip to Radiant Garden, Riku examines digital replicas of Sora and Organization members stored in Cid Highwind's computer, seeking hints about Sora's location through their simulated battles.
