The game is set in the Kowloon Walled City in Hong Kong. On June 22, 1997, just before the handover of Hong Kong, the long-demolished Kowloon Walled City mysteriously returned from the Yin realm (陰界) into the streets of Hong Kong in the Yang realm (陽界) of the living. The Hong Kong Supreme Feng Shui Conference (香港最高風水会議) concluded that the city's return signaled a disruption in the balance of Yin and Yang. If the two coexisting worlds were not once again separated, a great disaster would follow. To restore harmony, the principles of Feng Shui must be reestablished within the Yin realm. For this purpose, the protagonist, a Super Feng Shui Practitioner (超級風水師), is dispatched into the Kowloon Walled City to locate and awaken the Four Symbols, bringing order back to the realm.
