Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei is a Super Famicom remake developed by Atlus, reimagining Namco’s original Megami Tensei and Megami Tensei 2 titles from the Famicom. It launched in 1995 and marked the final entry in the Megaten series for the Super Famicom.
Megami Tensei: Akemi Nakajima, a brilliant programmer, created a Devil Summoning Program. However, when the demons Loki and Set gained physical forms, they turned on their summoner. Just as all hope seemed lost, a mysterious transfer student named Yumiko Shirasagi appeared and saved him. Nakajima and the spellcasting Yumiko joined forces and drove the demons back. But the battle is far from over. Lucifer, a once-noble angel cast down to Hell, now seeks to claim the human world. A demonic fortress has emerged in Asuka, where the resting place of the goddess Izanami lies beneath Shirasagi Mound. The mighty Izanami has been captured by Lucifer, her sanctum locked deep within the palace. To rescue her, and to defeat the reborn Loki and Set, as well as Lucifer himself, Nakajima and Yumiko step through the palace’s entrance—though they may never return to the surface again... Megami Tensei II: In 199X, the world was shattered by a missile barrage, forcing survivors into underground shelters. Now it's 2036, and two friends in Keihin Shelter No. 3 are playing a video game called 'Devil Busters.' After defeating the first boss, they accidentally awaken Pazuzu. The demon hands them the Demon Summoning Program, urging them to use it to fight Bael, and warns of an approaching threat. Soon after, demons attack the shelter, and the two friends must rise to defend what little of humanity remains.
