Last Bible III is the concluding installment of the Last Bible trilogy. Unlike its predecessors, this title was not made available on a handheld platform. The story follows Ciel, a young boy who departs from his hometown to begin an adventure.
The game is set many years after the events of Last Bible II, with humanity now coexisting in relative peace with the beasts. In the opening scene, a war veteran named Alek Messena arrives at the gates of the underworld. As he falls to his knees, he expresses a final hope that his old friend, Glen Larsford, will survive. The player takes control of Ciel, Glen’s son, who leads a quiet and carefree life, spending time with friends and his brother while attending school to learn how to harness his powerful gaia—a supernatural energy. From time to time, conversations among the townspeople reference the Polisian War, a brutal conflict that ended roughly fifteen years prior. Ciel soon learns that the once-divided (and now unified) Polisian States are enforcing a strict gaia prohibition law in an effort to eliminate the possibility of war forever. Some of Ciel’s classmates hail from the Polisian States, where the city runs on Phelesteau, a limitless energy source that provides free power to all—but only if its citizens agree never to use their gaia within city limits, or face imprisonment. When soldiers attack Ciel’s village to kill his father, he is thrust into a journey to uncover the truth behind the rift between Glen and Alek’s former team, the secrets of the Phelesteau engine, and the true motives of the Polisian States.
