Summary
Madagascar Kartz is a racing game inspired by DreamWorks Animation's Madagascar franchise. It was launched on October 27, 2009, and serves as the second title in the Madagascar spin-off series.
The game follows a standard kart racing format, allowing players to perform jumps, flips, and rolls. It features a variety of stages based on scenes from the franchise. Players can choose from a range of characters, including Alex, Marty, Gloria, Melman, King Julien, Mason, and Phil, or all four penguins. The Madagascar Kartz Wheel is included with the Wii version of the game, though it is not required for play. The wheel has a distinct design compared to the Wii Wheel used in Mario Kart Wii.
Playable characters include Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the Hippopotamus, The Penguins, The Chimps, and King Julien from Madagascar. In addition to the main series characters, the game also features Shrek from Shrek and B.O.B. from Monsters vs. Aliens, both part of the DreamWorks Animation lineup. Race modes include Quick Race, Championship, Time Trial, and Checkpoint Race. In Championship mode, players collect mangoes and aim to finish first to unlock higher speed classes (50cc, 100cc, 150cc, 200cc, with the final one being a reverse or mirror mode race), more karts, and additional tracks. Time Trial challenges players to beat their own best times and earn gold, silver, or bronze medals. In Checkpoint Race, players gather as many hourglasses as possible before time runs out. The game includes multiple tracks, most of which offer two shortcuts. The menu theme is "I Like to Move It" by Reel 2 Real. Gameplay is similar to that of Mario Kart Wii by Nintendo. The follow-up title is Super Star Kartz.
