Summary

Mario Kart Arcade GP is an arcade-exclusive entry in Nintendo's Mario Kart series, developed by Namco. Built for the Triforce arcade system (also used for F-Zero AX), the game allows players to choose from eleven characters and race across twenty-four tracks. On select units, for an extra charge, a player's progress can be stored on a magnetic card, which can be reinserted later to keep unlocked content and records. Nintendo's involvement in development was primarily focused on ensuring the game lived up to the standards of the main series. The game's arcade cabinet includes a camera that captures a photo of the player. This image can be personalized and then shown above the player's character during multiplayer races. This title is notable for introducing playable crossover characters to the Mario Kart series: Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and Blinky from Namco. The sequel added Mametchi, a character from the Tamagotchi games, and the third entry featured Don from the Taiko no Tatsujin series.
