
The titles featured include volleyball hockey both field and ice dodgeball and basketball following the style of the two companies' previous partnership Mario Hoops 3 on 3. Special power-up items provide benefits to the team that secures them. Each sport offers an Exhibition mode allowing up to four players to compete in one-on-one matches and a Tournament mode where up to three players take part in a bracket-style competition with difficulty levels labeled Mushroom Flower and Star. Mario Sports Mix also features a variety of party games inspired by the mechanics of each sport. Smash Skate draws from Hockey Bob-omb Dodge is modeled after Dodgeball Feed Petey is based on Basketball and Harmony Hustle takes cues from Volleyball.
