Summary
Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is a crossover combat game created by Capcom in partnership with Eighting. The title brings together characters from Capcom's video game series and Marvel Comics' superhero universe. It launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in February 2011. This marks the fifth entry in the Marvel vs. Capcom series and the first to implement 3D character models rather than 2D sprites. In Marvel vs. Capcom 3, players assemble a team of three fighters to battle and defeat their adversaries. The game retains the tag-team mechanics from previous titles while introducing new features aimed at making the experience more approachable for newcomers. Ryota Niitsuma served as the game's producer, having previously worked on Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars, which also employs the simplified three-button combat system. Critics largely praised the game for its engaging gameplay and diverse cast of characters, though some pointed out shortcomings in the online features and the absence of certain modes and content. Within a month of its release, over 2 million copies were distributed globally, establishing it as a strong commercial hit. Less than a year later, Capcom revealed an enhanced version called Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. This standalone upgrade arrived in November 2011 and included extra characters, new stages, and refined gameplay adjustments.
