Storyline
Marvel’s Avengers starts with A-Day, a celebration in San Francisco marking the grand opening of the Avengers West Coast Headquarters and a state-of-the-art helicarrier powered by cutting-edge technology. The festivities take a dark turn when a catastrophic accident causes widespread destruction. Wrongfully blamed for the disaster, the Avengers break up. Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are consumed by guilt over the devastation and the death of Captain America. In the five years after A-Day, the world suffers from the absence of the team. A new threat emerges—Advanced Idea Mechanics, or AIM, who claim that science, not Super Heroes, is the true solution to global safety. A teenager named Kamala begins to develop incredible shape-shifting and healing abilities after being exposed to Terrigen Mists during the A-Day event. With the Avengers no longer active and AIM swaying public opinion against Super Heroes, Kamala keeps her powers a secret. Kamala’s deep devotion to the Avengers, sharp mind, curiosity, and optimistic spirit lead her to uncover a startling conspiracy. As she learns to control and accept her powers, she discovers the strength and strategy needed to reunite Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
