Taking place in World War II, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault follows the fictional adventures of Lt. Mike Powell as he fights his way from the beaches of Africa to the coasts of France and into the core of Nazi Germany.
Storyline
Lt. Mike Powell, the main character, is a highly trained U.S. Army Ranger who later becomes an agent of the Office of Strategic Services. Powell and a group of Rangers are stationed in Arzew, Algeria, during the North African campaign. After a brutal fight to reach the city, the team is ambushed, and all but Powell are killed. Powell presses on into an Axis base in North Africa, where he rescues S.A.S. agent Major Grillo and recovers his gear. Grillo and Powell part ways, with Grillo securing a means of transport while Powell carries out sabotage in a motor pool. They later reunite when Grillo takes control of a jeep equipped with a mounted machinegun. The two drive to a German airfield, where they successfully destroy the Stuka dive bombers stationed there. While Grillo draws the attention of German forces, Powell sneaks into a bunker, cuts off Axis radio communications, and fights his way to a coastal lighthouse to signal the Allied fleet to begin the invasion of Africa. He then escapes with Grillo in the jeep. After the Allies' success in Africa, Powell and Grillo are deployed to German-occupied Norway to infiltrate the city of Trondheim, where a Kriegsmarine U-Boat is being equipped with a prototype Naxos radar detector. Grillo enters the base first but is killed by German guards while opening the gate for Powell. Powell fights his way in, then disguises himself as a German soldier to infiltrate the loading dock. He first enters the lab and destroys the Naxos prototype. Then, Powell accesses a submarine set to be fitted with the prototype and detonates it before escaping through the air ducts. He fights his way out of the base and is extracted by an Allied squad. Thanks to Powell's actions, the German U-Boat threat is eliminated, paving the way for the Allied invasion of Europe. Powell is deployed to Omaha Beach under Capt. Ramsay, where he and his fellow Rangers charge the bunkers, suffering heavy losses, and secure the beach. He is then sent inland to support various American units being targeted by Nebelwerfers. Powell is then tasked with going behind enemy lines to gather intelligence on German troop movements. After rescuing a stranded British pilot, Joe Baylor, Powell meets French Resistance fighter Manon Batiste (the main character of *Medal of Honor: Underground*). She sends him on a series of sabotage missions against the German war effort. He then raids a manor house being used as a command center, where he retrieves critical enemy documents, including blueprints for the new King Tiger tank. Powell escapes the manor with Manon's help. Powell's next mission involves stealing a King Tiger tank and using it to secure a crucial bridge in the city of Brest. After navigating through sniper-filled ruins, he joins the American tank crew assigned to the mission. Powell and the crew capture the King Tiger and use it to fight through the countryside. Upon reaching Brest, Powell provides cover for the King Tiger to defend the bridge until reinforcements arrive to secure it. Powell's final mission takes him to Fort Schmerzen, a German mustard gas production facility previously raided by Lieutenant James Patterson, but now supposedly operating as a POW camp, though it may still be producing mustard gas. Powell is dropped into the woods, where he destroys several Flak 88s that are attacking Allied aircraft. He then infiltrates a weapons depot and destroys a stockpile of StG 44 assault rifles, followed by a German communications outpost, cutting off Schmerzen's lines of communication. Powell hijacks a freight train and, with a squad of U.S. Rangers, uses it to reach the fort. Upon arrival, Powell and his team storm the facility and free the POWs. Powell then fights his way to the lower levels of the fort, where he discovers that mustard gas production is still active. He places explosives on the gas facilities and escapes just in time as Fort Schmerzen is destroyed.
