The 8-bit nostalgia lovers around the globe have made their voices heard—and they did so with overwhelming clarity. When Capcom launched the NES-inspired Mega Man 9 in 2008, it was intended as a special, standalone tribute to fans. And while the game was excellent (exceedingly so), few anticipated another 8-bit entry in the main series. Yet here we are. Mega Man 10 is now available on WiiWare, PlayStation Network, and Xbox Live Arcade, delivering the same classic charm and quality as its predecessor. And yes, it's just as impressive.
In the year 20XX, a robotic-virus called "Roboenza" spreads across the world, infecting and disabling robots and disrupting human life. Roll contracts the virus, and as time passes without a cure, the situation worsens. One month into the outbreak, infected robots go on a rampage, attempting to seize control of the world. One day, Dr. Wily shows up at Dr. Light's lab with his capsule damaged and requests assistance. Mega Man rescues Wily from a crash, and Wily explains that Roboenza-infected robots attacked his spaceship and stole the components of a machine he was developing to create a cure. Mega Man agrees to recover the stolen parts from the eight Robot Masters. Before starting, Proto Man arrives to assist, believing the mission too large for one person, and the two team up to find the cure. After defeating four Robot Masters, Dr. Wily offers what he says is a prototype cure for Roll and asks if Mega Man is showing symptoms, to which Mega Man replies he feels fine. After the final Robot Master is defeated, Mega Man contracts Roboenza and is nearly overwhelmed when Wily reveals he was behind the outbreak and demands all robots seeking the cure to serve him. Roll gives Mega Man her sample of the cure, allowing him to recover and pursue Wily. During the assault on the fortress, Proto Man also falls ill with Roboenza but is saved by Mega Man, who had obtained an additional sample of the cure.
