Summary
Mega Man X7 is set in the 22nd century, an era in which humans live alongside humanoid robots known as "Reploids." As certain Reploids turn to violent and destructive acts, a law enforcement unit named the "Maverick Hunters" is formed to combat the threat. Maverick-related crimes are on the rise in newly developed urban areas. Amid this growing crisis, X steps down, weary from his endless struggles. A new team of vigilantes, Red Alert, emerges. One of its members, Axl, grows disillusioned with their brutal methods and attempts to leave. Red, the team's leader, becomes enraged by Axl's departure and launches a violent campaign to bring him back.
Storyline
After the Eurasia and Nightmare crises, Reploids strive to restore the Earth to its former state. Tired of the seemingly endless Maverick Wars, X chooses to retire in pursuit of a more tranquil future, placing Zero in command. During X's absence, Maverick threats escalate quickly, prompting the creation of an unauthorized anti-Maverick vigilante faction called Red Alert. As the group becomes increasingly bold in their actions, one of its members, a prototype Reploid of the new generation named Axl, decides to leave. Red, the group's leader, is furious at Axl's betrayal and embarks on a violent quest to bring him back.
