Metal Gear Solid Touch is a third-person shooting game for iOS, inspired by Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Players go through a series of missions that mirror key stages from Metal Gear Solid 4, each beginning with a short text recapping the story up to that point. Movement and aiming are controlled by swiping the screen, with taps used to shoot. Pinching the screen adjusts the zoom on a sniper rifle, while lifting fingers from the screen allows the character to take cover and avoid enemy attacks. The protagonist's main weapons—an assault rifle and a sniper rifle—can be switched by pinching the screen. The player takes on the role of Solid Snake, also referred to as Old Snake in Metal Gear Solid 4. The entire Metal Gear Solid experience has been condensed into a more portable and user-friendly format. Most missions focus on eliminating a specific number of enemies, including hostile PMC soldiers, Haven Troopers, and Gekkos, which are autonomous combat machines. Shooting at friendly units results in penalties. Certain missions feature 'Boss fights' against key antagonists from the Metal Gear Solid 4 storyline, such as Laughing Octopus. After completing each mission, players receive a rank based on their accuracy and efficiency. Higher ranks earn more Drebin Points, which can be spent on in-game rewards like iPhone character wallpapers.
