For centuries, the land of Erathia has been ravaged by a brutal war between humans and demons. Matters grow even graver when the human king is captured by the demon forces. A young warrior named Ewan is tasked with finding the king by a secretive noble named Mendes. Along the journey, Ewan meets Lorean, an elven archer, who joins him in his mission. Later, Kayn, the leader of a mercenary band known as the Unicorns, appears and helps them in their effort to rescue the king. Together, the trio sets out to slay the demon lord, who manages to escape after a fierce battle with Ewan. The demon lord confronts Kayn, trying to persuade him to switch sides, as Kayn is part demon. However, Kayn reveals he is loyal to neither side, claiming the humans are merely his "tools." Ewan and Lorean overhear this and decide to leave. Mendes, meanwhile, plots to expose Kayn’s heritage in order to position himself as the king’s chief advisor. Kayn discovers this plan and arranges a meeting with Ewan at the royal castle. He tells Ewan that Mendes is working to block the king’s return and must be eliminated. Kayn confronts and kills Mendes, and then fends off an attacking knight, who also falls. Ewan refuses to support Kayn any longer, leading to a confrontation between the two. They part ways, and Kayn is captured for the murder of Mendes. A year later, Lorean asks Ewan to assist in rescuing Kayn, and he agrees. They find Kayn severely injured when the demon lord arrives and takes him away. Ewan tracks them down and defeats the demon lord and a three-headed dragon. Kayn apologizes for his betrayal. With the demons vanquished, the people of Erathia begin the long process of rebuilding their homeland.
