The Genesis edition of *Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie* is a side-scrolling beat-'em-up supporting up to two players, allowing control of both the Rangers and their Zords, depending on the level. The game is divided into six stages, with the first two and the final stage based on the movie's events. Stages 3 through 5, however, take place prior to the film and adapt pivotal episodes from the second season of the TV series, specifically "White Light," "Ninja Encounter," and "Power Transfer." The soundtrack, composed by Hikoshi Hashimoto, includes hard rock versions of Ron Wasserman's original TV music. The game features a total of nine Rangers: Tommy, Adam, Kimberly, Billy, Aisha, Rocky, Zach, Trini, and Jason. When choosing Jason, Trini, or Zach, the voice clips of Adam, Aisha, and Rocky are used when calling out their Zord names during the morphing command. This is because the original actors for those characters were no longer under contract after the *Power Transfer* two-part episode of *Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers*. Sega and Banpresto sought permission from Saban Entertainment to use the characters but had the replacements provide the voices instead of the original actors. Digitized cinematic scenes are included, drawn from both the movie and Season 2 of the show. Lord Zedd, Goldar, the Putty Patrol, and Oozemen serve as sub-bosses. Nimrod the Scarlet Sentinel, AC, and DC are renamed in this version as Sentinel Neck, Sentinel Ear, and Sentinel Ring, respectively. Players can battle the Ecto-Morphicons using the Ninja Megazord or Falcon Zord (both in 2-Player mode), and the Thunder Megazord or Mega Tigerzord against the Sentinels. Bulk and Skull also make cameo appearances in the game's ending.
