A side entry in Hudson's Peach Boy RPG series that shifts the spotlight to three supporting characters. Momotarou Densetsu Gaiden ("Peach Boy Legend Side-Story"), also known as Momotarou Densetsu Gaiden: Dai 1-Shu ("Peach Boy Legend Side-Story: Volume 1") for PC Engine, is a non-mainline title in Hudson's Momotarou Densetsu lineup of RPGs, loosely based on the famous folk hero. It originally launched on the Game Boy in 1991 before being brought to the PC Engine in 1992 and the Famicom the following year. The game moves the focus away from Momotarou to three additional characters, each with their own unique storyline to follow. One follows a classic hero's journey, another centers on the demon kingdom's princess as she investigates an attack on her father's rule with a group of monster allies, and the third follows a thief who robs monsters and donates the loot to the poor. Each story mode retains the core gameplay elements of the series: world map exploration and turn-based battles.
