Mr. Gimmick
Summary
A young girl gets a doll called Yumetarou (ゆめたろー) as a birthday gift. She soon prefers the new doll over her five existing toys, leaving them feeling neglected and unwanted. While she sleeps, the toys mysteriously come to life and take her to a different dimension. As the main character, Yumetarou must follow his new owner and bring her back from the world of the toys.
Storyline
The tale starts on the birthday of an unnamed young girl. Her father is usually occupied with work, but he makes time for the celebration. Earlier that day, he went to the store to buy a new toy for his daughter. Yumetaro had been exploring the toy shop and became disoriented when the girl's father entered. He tried to hide among stuffed animals that resembled him, but was discovered and picked up by the father. When the girl unwraps her Yumetaro gift, she is overjoyed. Yumetaro quickly becomes her favorite, leaving her other toys feeling neglected. One night, the toys spring to life and take the girl to a different dimension. Yumetaro is the only one left behind, and he sets off after the others in search of her.
