Need for Speed: Nitro is the fourteenth entry in the popular Need for Speed racing game series. Published by Electronic Arts, it was released for the Wii and Nintendo DS platforms. It remains the only title in the franchise to exclude a PC version. The game was revealed in January as part of a trio of announcements that also featured Need for Speed: Shift and Need for Speed: World. EA Montreal handled development, leveraging their prior work on Nintendo projects, though the DS version was crafted independently by Firebrand Games' Florida team. A refined version of the DS release, titled Need for Speed: Nitro-X, became available on DSiWare in November 2010.
