Neo Angelique is the fourth installment in the Neoromance series and an alternate universe within the Angelique franchise. Character designs and illustrations were created by Kairi Yura, while Maki Fujioka was responsible for designing the animated versions of the characters, both in the game and the associated TV series. The character image songs were composed by Yujiro Okazaki. Ruby Party initially intended for the game to serve as a minor side story to the main Angelique series. However, as they developed the plot and characters during brainstorming sessions, they realized the project had grown beyond their original vision. As a result, they pivoted to create an "Angelique title accessible to newcomers," aiming to showcase the series' charm without requiring prior knowledge of the lore. Due to its popularity in fan polls, role-playing game elements became a central focus of the gameplay. The core themes of the story are "beautiful, noble, and romantic." The Premium Box featured eight postcards, a character message CD, and a fully illustrated comic book/manual. Customers who pre-ordered the game or the Full Voice edition through Gamecity Shopping received a mouse pad with their purchase.
The main character is an ordinary high school girl enrolled at Melrose Girls' Academy in Arcadia. One day, a refined man named Nyx appears and reveals that she possesses a hidden ability to purify Thanatos—formless creatures that feed on ordinary people. She abandons her school life to join Nyx’s monster-hunting enterprise, the "Aube Hunters." As she delves deeper, she discovers she is the only woman with purification powers, as she is the legendary Queen Egg, a long-prophesied hero. Her mission is to team up with her fellow Aube Hunters to eliminate Thanatos and bring peace back to the land.
