New Super Mario Bros. Mii was a tech demo showcased at E3 2011 to highlight the capabilities of the Wii U. Built upon New Super Mario Bros. Wii, it featured new levels and allowed players to use their Miis as characters. The demo was designed to showcase the "Off-TV Play" feature, enabling gameplay on the Wii U GamePad without needing a TV. Players could enjoy up to ten minutes of playtime before the game would reset. Although it was primarily a demonstration of the Wii U controller's gameplay potential, New Super Mario Bros. U was developed based on New Super Mario Bros. Mii.
