Summary

Onimusha 3 is the third installment in the Onimusha series. It continues to feature core elements from earlier games, such as using a variety of special weapons to battle foes and drawing energy from them to upgrade your arsenal. In this entry, players mainly take control of Samanosuke and Jacques in distinct story segments. The two characters can share items to progress through puzzles. Development began after the PlayStation 2's launch, enabling the team to build a 3D engine for creating detailed 3D environments. To better connect with Western audiences, the game is set in Paris, and French actor Jean Reno was cast as Jacques. Onimusha 3 has generally been praised by gaming publications. Critics highlighted the refined controls and the enhanced 3D engine, which improved both combat and visual quality. The game also performed well commercially, with over 1.5 million units sold by May 2008.

Storyline

The narrative centers on the returning hero, swordsman Hidemitsu Samanosuke Akechi, as he embarks on a mission to defeat his archenemy, Nobunaga Oda, who seeks to take over Japan with his demonic army called Genma. But when Samanosuke swaps places with a French officer from the future named Jacques Blanc, both must adjust to their unfamiliar surroundings in order to stop Nobunaga and the Genma.
