Operation: Inner Space is an action game developed in 1992 and released in 1994 by Software Dynamics for Windows. The player's objective is to pilot a spaceship into the computer world known as "Inner Space" to reclaim icons and resources scattered by an invasion, and ultimately defeat the "Inner Demon." Along the journey, the player encounters various spacecraft and can participate in races to collect icons. Players can select a ship from one of six teams (with a seventh team reserved for AI-controlled players), and the nature of interactions will largely depend on the team chosen. Each team has its own relationships with the others.
The Inner Demon and its viruses have infiltrated the player's computer, corrupting its icons. The Inner Demon then establishes a hidden base within a shifting black hole, guarded by four dragons, each wielding one of the Inner Demon's powers. Piloting a spaceship, the player ventures into the computer's "Inner Space" to recover the uninfected icons and put an end to the Inner Demon. Throughout the journey, the player will upgrade their ship and build connections with the inhabitants of Inner Space. Stranded inside a computer overrun by viruses, a computer user must guide a spaceship through a dangerous file system and discover inner peace to break free.
