Summary
Oriental Legend 2 continues the adventure from the original title by I.G.S., once again drawing inspiration from Journey to the West. The five original characters are now joined by three new additions: Er-Lang, Drakan, and Princess Iron Fan, with two more unlockable after finishing the game for the first time. As with its predecessor, the game is a side-scrolling beat-em-up supporting up to four players. This installment introduces character progression as a key element of gameplay. Players earn experience points by defeating enemies and can level up, making underdeveloped characters significantly less effective against later bosses. The game includes three distinct modes. "Plot" consists of seven stages with standard difficulty, ideal for casual players. "Online Ranking" offers a tougher eight-stage challenge, rewarding completion with a code to submit on the official site for global leaderboard recognition. "Challenge Boss" is a fast-paced mode where players must defeat all the game's bosses as quickly as possible. This marks the first title on the PGM2 to support the system's card reader peripheral. By purchasing an IC card at an arcade, players can save and load their character's progress, retaining levels and items across sessions.
