Paranoia (also known as Half-Life: Paranoia) is a single-player total conversion mod for the Half-Life game, created and released on December 3, 2007, by a team of Russian modders. It was made available for both PC and the Sega Dreamcast (note that the Dreamcast version is unofficial). The mod uses OpenGL rendering, enabling the implementation of advanced visual features such as bump mapping, reflections, high-detail textures, 3D graphics, 3D skyboxes, and an enhanced lighting system for models. The final release of the mod came out on April 9, 2008. Built on the Half-Life (GoldSrc) engine, it is freely available to players. Following the launch of version 1.1, the mod received widespread acclaim, and in January 2008, ModDB recognized Paranoia as the best single-player mod of 2007.
You take on the role of a Russian officer serving in the Spetsnaz. You're deployed to the Udarnik Industrial Complex to carry out a mission of neutralizing terrorist threats and ensuring the safety of the personnel. But the situation takes a far more sinister turn when Major Kalashnikov, the player character, ventures into the abandoned sections of the facility, uncovering both mutants and the undead. As the game nears its conclusion, operatives from what appears to be the British military make their presence known. Earlier in the story, it's revealed that the terrorists were in fact mercenaries hired by the British.
