Perfect Dark

Summary

Perfect Dark is a remastered version of the original first-person shooter video game of the same name. Created by 4J Studios and released by Microsoft Game Studios over ten years after the initial 2000 launch, the remaster includes a number of technical upgrades such as enhanced textures and models, improved frame rates, and a multiplayer component compatible with Xbox Live. It became available for the Xbox 360 console in March 2010 via the Xbox Live Arcade download platform. The game's plot centers on Joanna Dark, a member of the Carrington Institute, as she works to thwart a conspiracy orchestrated by the rival company dataDyne. Development of Perfect Dark spanned almost a full year, during which the game's engine was entirely rebuilt from the ground up to accommodate features specific to the Xbox 360. As a result, while gameplay remains identical to the original, the underlying code and rendering system are entirely new. The game was met with largely positive feedback. Some reviewers felt the largely unchanged content made it feel dated, but the majority praised it as a strong revival of a beloved classic.
