Summary
Twenty-two years after his iconic debut on the Atari 2600, Activision's Pitfall Harry is back for more high-octane jungle adventures. The fearless explorer faces over 50 dangerous stages across exotic South American settings like dense rainforests, icy glaciers, underground mines, and ancient temples. Just like in the original, players must rely on Harry's agility to swing from vines, outrun rolling logs, leap over deep pits, dodge snapping crocodiles, and more, all while braving the unforgiving terrain.
His mission? Recover lost relics before they’re claimed by his rival and rescue those in peril. Pitfall Harry will eventually face challenges that even his best jumps can't solve, so players can pull items from his backpack to help him out. Much like the character's brief appearance on the original PlayStation, this game is crafted to bring smiles as players uncover the secrets of the wild. While Pitfall 3D used Bruce Campbell's voice for comedic flair, this version of Pitfall Harry uses exaggerated visuals to generate laughs, with the hero depicted as a cartoonish figure—big head perched on a lanky body.
The story kicks off with Harry as part of a treasure-hunting team whose plane crashes in the jungle. The other survivors are scattered throughout the game; one seasoned adventurer from the flight—who is injured in the crash—urges Harry to take on a mission to rescue them while fending off a rival, environmentally reckless group of treasure seekers. This group is after the jungle’s ancient relics, and the goal is to return them to their rightful place. The older adventurer gives Harry the "Hero's Handbook" and sends him off on his journey. Pages of the "Hero's Handbook" are hidden in each level, just like the crash survivors. Collect new pages, and Harry gains new abilities.
