Summary

Protector II is a side-scrolling shooter inspired by the classic arcade game Defender. Similar to its predecessor, the game features a wide variety of alien foes and ground-based threats. However, there are no smart bombs to simplify the challenge. Players must rescue humans twice—once from an alien vessel and later from a city under threat of volcanic lava—while fending off enemy attacks. Each human must be transported individually into a teleporter tube to evacuate them from the planet, as the game only allows carrying one at a time. The gameplay is notably demanding, requiring precise flying and quick reflexes, possibly even more so than Defender or Stargate. Protector II also introduces a more developed narrative than its arcade influences, with multiple rescue sub-missions depending on the game stage. It's worth noting that there are no pauses between stages, as the action continues seamlessly throughout the entire game.
