Summary

Quartet is a platform and shoot-em-up hybrid developed by Sega for one to four players, each able to choose between Joe (yellow), Mary (red), Lee (blue), or Edgar (green). The game features several side-scrolling levels, most of which focus on traditional platforming. In certain stages, players can find jet packs, shifting the gameplay into a classic side-scrolling shoot-em-up format. The goal is to eliminate a robotic army that has seized control of an Earth colony satellite. Each level is capped by a boss that must be defeated to progress. Destroying the boss releases a key needed to unlock the exit. Players can also gather weapons and character power-ups to help them along the way. With its four-player cooperative shoot-em-up elements, Quartet bears a loose resemblance to (though doesn't match the quality of) Atari's 1985 hit, "Gauntlet".
