Summary
Rambo is a side-scrolling platform game in which the player takes control of Rambo as he embarks on a mission to Vietnam. The game begins at a military base before sending Rambo into the war-torn country. In Vietnam, Rambo must battle various creatures in the jungles, swamps, and caves, including wasps, snakes, fish, tigers, bats, spiders, birds, apes, and flamingos. Before reaching the POW camp, he must confront guards and mercenaries who can strike or shoot him. These enemies wear different colored shirts, indicating their strength levels. The game also features a complex map that requires players to locate North and South markers on the ground to move between levels and East and West by positioning Rambo at the screen's edge. Rambo can collect six different weapons: a knife, throwing knife, bow and arrow, bow and exploring arrow, gun, and hand grenade. All weapons except the knife have limited ammunition, which can be gathered from defeated foes. Health vials are also available to restore health, along with mission-specific items Rambo must find to complete certain objectives. The game uses a password save system that can be accessed by speaking to any character.
