Rance 01: Quest for Hikari

Summary

This game is a remake of the 1989 classic, the original Rance title from 25 years ago. The gameplay mechanics, visuals, and all other elements have been completely overhauled (to a far greater extent than in Rance 02) and will stand as a standalone release rather than being included in a compilation like Alice's Cottage. Like its predecessor, the game includes a strong focus on traditional ADV-style interaction with the environment and characters (such as looking and touching), and it has a playtime of around 8 to 10 hours.

Storyline

Rance is a rough and lecherous warrior who earns his living by taking on various assignments from the Keith Guild in the town of Ice, part of the Free Cities Alliance, alongside Sill Plain, the loyal slave he recently acquired. One day, he is given a mission to look into the disappearance of Hikari Mi Blanc, a noblewoman from the grand Kingdom of Leazas, who vanished under mysterious circumstances after attending an elite academy in the nation’s capital. Upon learning that she is a beautiful young woman, he instantly agrees to take the case and sets off to Leazas with Sill in hopes of finding her. However, he soon discovers that the case is far more complex than it first seems. And so, his journey to find Hikari begins...
